Building an Inclusive Classroom: TLS Rohtak's Gender Sensitivity Workshop
A CBSE Capacity Building Programme that gave teachers practical tools, not just talking points.
The most important lessons a school teaches often happen in the staff room, not the classroom. TLS Rohtak recently organised a CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Gender Sensitivity for its teaching faculty, aimed at exactly that.
The workshop was conducted by resource persons Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Ms. Sonam, who guided teachers through what it actually takes to build an inclusive, respectful, and equitable classroom — not as an abstract ideal, but through engaging discussions and practical activities they could put to use immediately.
The sessions focused on recognising and addressing gender stereotypes, promoting equal opportunity, and building genuine empathy among students. Teachers were encouraged to carry these gender-sensitive approaches into their everyday interactions, not just a single lesson plan.
What made the workshop genuinely useful was the space it gave teachers to raise real concerns and have them properly addressed — turning a mandatory training into a session that left the entire faculty better equipped for the classroom.
